Dearest Miss Liberty;
They did this under your nose as well as ours.
We all watched as the madmen tried to break us,
the worst act ever witnessed in history.
With all the destruction they caused
and the lives they stole....
They did not break us.
THEY WILL NOT BREAK US.
These madmen thought they conquered our great Nation with the damage they brought.
However, they only "awoke the sleeping giant".
Their insane act of terror only made us stronger.
It brought together a Country sometimes lost in politics and media.
These cowards devastated life,
but also brought out our hero's.
Heros that risked and gave their lives
so that one person could return home to their family.
Hero's who fought back and died fighting.
This is what America is made of,
This is what WE, as Americans, are born with.
Something stronger than the steel and concrete that
crumbled and burned on that horrific day.
Something in our blood that comes from our heart.
Something that can NEVER be taken away from us.
From the depth of devastation,
We will prevail.
GREATER & STRONGER THAN EVER!
WE WILL PREVAIL!
This time with our eyes open & the safety off.
As we fly our free flags high,
we make our promise to Miss Liberty...

Built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center .
It is the fifth in a new class of warship -
designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists.
It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and
700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.
